The men who fought for both the Union and the Confederacy tell the dramatic story of the American Civil War in their letters home to mothers and sweethearts. Exhibits based on their experiences echo their heartbreaks, hunger and the boredom of camp life.

Letters, photographs, and other artifacts displayed in temperature and humidity controlled cases bring the conflict to life. Rich interactives and media include an introductory video, an immersive environment simulating an actual battle, and a diorama graphically depicting a typical field hospital.
